From Her Tongue — Rābiʿa al-ʿAdawiyya al-Qaysiyyaمِنْ كَلَامِهَا

The people asked her: 'When are servants of God contented?'. She replied: 'They are contented when they are as grateful for pain as they are for pleasure'.

O God, whatsoever Thou hast apportioned to me of worldly things, do Thou give that to Thy enemies; and whatsoever Thou hast apportioned to me in the world to come, give that to Thy friends; for Thou sufficest me.
